School Council
Each September, pupils work together as a class to elect a member from each year group to sit on the School Council.
School councillors meet regularly with Mrs Lambert and bring any questions, ideas or concerns from their classes. They also work together on initiatives such as fundraising for charities or conducting pupil questionnaires. They are also involved in interviews for new members of teaching staff, bringing the pupil perspective to the panel, and meeting visitors to school.
Pupils work alongside other local school councils and meet at Hebden Royd Town Council regularly. Here they find out more about the council and how it works and meet local councillors and the mayor. They are able to share their views and concerns and feed into the local plan. Currently they are helping the council improve their local area by suggesting areas which need improvements and giving a vital young opinion.
Our 2023/24 School Council will be made up of 1 pupil from each year group for Key Stage 1 and 2 from each year group at Key Stage 2. They also form part of the Calder Learning Trust Student Council, who meet half-termly.
