Parents and Teachers Association

What is the PTA?

The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) is a group of volunteer parents and carers of Calder High School children who work closely with the school and its staff to fundraise. The PTA is a registered charity (charity number: 1184450). The main aim of the PTA is to raise money to fund educational enhancement and curriculum enrichment activities.

Examples of PTA events and activities
We raise funds through a range of events and activities that Calder families can join in with, support and enjoy. We also hope to generate the support of and donations from the local community. In the past we have organised events such as a school Fashion Show and Race nNght as well as raising funds through raffles, non-uniform days and the Bags 2 School scheme

Examples of what the PTA funds
We work closely with school staff in the development of our fundraising plans. Each year we ask subject departments to submit bids for funding from the PTA as this way we can prioritise how the donations are spent. Over the past few years we have paid for water fountains around school, books for teacher CPD, Visualisers (Maths and Science), a student well-being garden, silk painting workshops (Art) and a student enrichment bursary.

How you can help
The PTA is always looking for volunteer parents and carers who want to get involved in supporting the school and their children. You can support the PTA in a number of ways:

  • Joining the PTA
  • Providing company match-funding for events
  • Helping out at events (setting up, selling tickets, serving drinks etc)
  • Supporting and attending events

If you want to get involved but are worried about the time commitment, you can help out as and when you have time or on an ad hoc basis. Being involved with the PTA doesn’t have to be a permanent commitment.

Contact the PTA
We are an inclusive group and we welcome all suggestions for future activities and how we can support the school community. If you want to get in touch with the PTA, please email: parentenquiry@calderlearningtrust.com and the school will be able to direct your enquiry to a member of the group.
