Our House System

When joining The Calder Learning Trust, all our young people are allocated a place in one of four school houses named after local landmarks. These are Hardcastle, Shibden, Stoodley and Wainhouse.

This vertical house system helps foster a sense of identity, belonging and pride. In Calder Primary, all our Year 6 pupils are house captains to pupils in Year R-6 and they collect house points on their house sticker charts. In Calder High School, we have house prefects and all students wear a house tie and collect house points through Arbor.

Primary pupils and secondary students are able to represent and support their houses in a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular ways throughout the year. The culmination of the year is the presentation of the Calder Cup on the last day of the summer term. In July 2024 the trophy was awarded to Wainhouse.
