Calder High School PTA Constitution

Calder High School PTA is a newly formed group, and we are looking for more enthusiastic parents and carers who want to get involved in supporting the school and their children. Our main aim is to raise additional funds to enhance school development and the day to day experience of its students. We aim to do this through social events that families can enjoy. We also hope to generate the support of and donations from the local community! We regularly talk to students and staff about our fundraising plans. Our first target is to help provide more facilities in the outside yards at breaktime - we are looking at goalposts, benches, tables and other outdoor activities that will improve the yard environment.
We welcome all suggestions for activities and how we can support the school from parents and carers, so please get in touch.

It’s been a busy autumn term for the PTA…

Our first fundraising event, Race and Curry night on 10th November, was a big success. The diner was festooned with bunting, parents Matthanee and Charlotte cooked some amazing Thai food and Mr Washington and staff team ran a superb set of races! Families and staff turn up in good numbers and we had a great time as well as raising £381.57. This will go towards the first PTA target, a request from students via the School Council for outdoor amenities. We will put the money towards an awning to make the yard behind the diner servery a more attractive and sheltered place to enjoy lunch…

There was a PTA chocolate tombola at the Winter Show 14th December, that raised £84.10 for Duke of Edinburgh equipment, so that more young people can enjoy this activity.

We’ve run a very informative survey of staff and parents, that has revealed some great ideas, talents and requests! We are in the process of matching some parent offers of help with the eco garden and reading support to the right staff and students. More in the New Year.

The survey also told us what you wanted the PTA to focus funding on this year – the main headlines were lockers for the children, events and activities, books and supporting the school rewards system.

The next fundraising event will be a Fashion show on Friday 27th April 2018. We hope you can join us.

Thanks to all who’ve got involved so far, and looking forward to more PTA activities!
